Handcrafted Bags: It’s All in the Details

I indulge in high street fun, but it’s luxury fashion with a personal touch that really excites me. For the record, this is not your grandma’s macramé. Just check out Bottega Veneta’s appliquéd box clutch (on NET-A-PORTER for $2,450). It may have been delicately assembled, but there’s nothing delicate about the look. Between the brand’s knot closure, the coiling black appliqué, and and the purple rainbow snakeskin, it’s tailor-made for the tough girl. McQueen’s Skull (on NET-A-PORTER for $1,640) is a little sweeter, pairing the signature adornment with flower power lace. And while macramé and appliqué are typically done best on clutches, Valentino (pre-order at Neiman Marcus for $4,595) rises to a bigger challenge and bag.
